pyramid of greatness: word of wisdom


i had the opportunity to teach a lesson on the word of wisdom at achievement days this past week
the word of wisdom was not a topic i wanted to take lightly but at the same time i didn't want to make it super serious for girls the ages of 8-11- hopefully this lesson turned out well.

- each of the bullet points were passed out among the girls
- i asked which bullet points belong under which head topics (ex: avoid sugar goes under Eating Right)
- then the girls would come up to the board and tape the bullets under the topic i called out (helped to make it more interactive)
- after each section had all the bullet points taped under we talked about each bullet (it was great hearing the girls opinions)
- added some personal stories and my testimony 
- done!

Word of Wisdom: D&C Section 80: 18-21

 18 And all saints who remember to keep and do these sayings, walking in obedience to the commandments, ashall receivebhealth in their navel and marrow to their bones;
 19 And shall afind bwisdom and great ctreasures of dknowledge, even hidden treasures;
 20 And shall arun and not be bweary, and shall walk and not faint.
 21 And I, the Lord, give unto them a promise, that theadestroying angel shall bpass by them, as the children of Israel, and not slay them. Amen.

Living Right
~ Exercise: 30 minutes activity a day
~ Sleep: early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise
~ Cease to be idle (see skills)
~ Learn! (see skills)

Know What's Real
~ Do not participate in fad diets
~ Choose not to be anorexic or bulimic 
~ Don't overexercise 
~ Don't obsess over yourself 

Eating Right
~ Whole grain
~ Fruits & veggies
~ Limit meat
~ Avoid sugar

Avoiding the Bad
~ Alcohol
~ Smoking 
~ Drugs
~ Tea & Coffee 
~ Tobacco
~ Anything habit forming 

Skills
~ Learn to cook
~ Learn to love learning
~ Develop a rewarding hobby
~ Learn to read nutritional facts
