pastel party favors

with halloween coming around the corner ive started thinking about candy
this is our first year we might actually get trick or treaters
need to prepare!

ive never loved the super bright and garish candy packaging colors out there but seeing these pretty pastel candies gave me some ideas. probably not for halloween but for a party or bridal shower in the future.

soft serve ice cream bar with tutti-frutti sprinkles

the idea of a soft-serve ice cream bar makes me giddy with delight. rainbow sprinkles are a weakness of mine. on donuts, ice cream, cookies (do you remember the Keebler Sprinkles Cookies? yum. so sad they are gone),   cakes, etc. sprinkles are wonderful- especially rainbow sprinkles.

sprinkles, sprinkles, sprinkles
can't have a party without em :)

for a second baby coming into the world
instead of hosting a baby shower
have a baby sprinkle
SO adorable and the theme is just wonderful
sprinkles everywhere!

bridal shower details

ry putting up ball jars the evening before the shower
we put tealights in them for a magical effect
a simple and thrifty way to light up your party

donettes are so cute and yummy
with a three-tier stand
flavors of choice?
coconut, powdered sugar and chocolate frosted flavors

so cute!
and simple

flower arranging
my most favorite and peaceful hobby
purple spider mums and sunshine yellow chrysanthemums
arranged in vintage milk glass containers
my fave

a new container
a Mikasa crystal "fishbowl" style container
from my mom

a thrifty way to get your mileage out of all your flowers
any flowers that have been broken at the stem or a little crushed
still look lovely floating in a small pool of water

the beautiful mess

sunshine arrangement

food tags

another thrifty tip:
instead of buying that veggie tray pre-made
buy some veggies and do the work yourself
buy some dressing
use a pretty plate
voila!

milk glass tray
vintage cup for dressing

we had lime sherbet punch
an easy-peasy favorite

fill your bunt pan with lime sherbet
and freeze
5 minutes before your party
submerge the lower half of bundt pan in hot water for a few seconds
invert into your punch bowl
and pour in the sprite or 7up
.YUM.

prep for the bridal shower & garden updates

in preparation for the bridal shower
(that already happened and was a success!)
ryan lovingly tore down the terrible lattice last week

we are guessing that it has been there for as long as the house has
about twenty years!

 trying to be more "eco"
i decided to turn some of the lattice pieces into stakes for my plants
do you need some?
let me know
i got a couple of piles

 more garden updates
the bell peppers and the walla wallla onions
and in the lower right corner 'super chili'
hopefully not too blazing hot- haha-
they will probably be equivalent to fire

these photos were taken July 19
recently we added more plants to this planter
more tomatoes from my friend M!

the white icicle radish row
yellow husk tomatillo
and random veggies here and there
turnips, carrots, green onions, beets
i swear i planted them in rows!
they just went everywhere

my favorite thing to watch in the garden
the 'sweet 100' tomato plant
a hybrid
super beautiful
they look like little green jewels
super shiny

okay im obsessed with them
aren't they the cutest?

 'early girl'
she is taking a little longer than i anticipated
but she is gorgeous!

'galina's yellow cherry tomato'
ry counted about 120 little cherry tomato flowers so far
yipee!

 'yellow husk' tomatillo
super excited about these as well
they are really pretty

the fire sticks
.intense.
he is not growing very big at the moment
getting a tad worried
maybe fertilizer?

 my butternut squash
eaten at the stem by slugs
they. will. pay.

not sure what this is- haha
it is a type of squash but i don't remember!

 french pumpkin
really pretty curly vines

another squash i do not remember!

'early girl' bell pepper
isn't she beautiful?

the setup

the crepe bar
it helps to put out all the food tags 1 hour beforehand to make sure you have room for everything

the future bride getting some punch

cover everything with saran wrap to keep the pests away until party time

my pastry chef ry
he made crepes for the girls whenever they ordered
they loved it

thank you to my sister-in-law A for lending us the chef coat
he looks pretty dashing in it
toppings for the crepes were
nutella, bananas, whipped cream, lemon juice, powdered sugar and cherry jam

chicken salad, croissants, veggie platter, lime sherbet punch

fun vintage snack server trays to the right
to replace paper plates
so much prettier
