the first day of august

uncle nico & baby colette are great friends

i LOVE the month of august. one month before my birthday. wedding anniversary month. the warm, warm weather. the feeling of being on vacation even when you are just at home. school supply sales (i get so excited to buy glue and tape- so weird). ice cream and popsicles. nordstrom anniversary sale. did i mention sunny weather?

is it just me or has summer flown by? we are scrambling to enjoy all that summer has to offer and i decided a bucket list needed to be made!

bucket list for the rest of summer:
01. finish the design plans for the main living room
02. create a home design binder for mom
03. make homemade ice cream
04. eat baskin-robbins ice cream (Jamoca Heath is my fave)
05. declutter my old room
06. preserve my grandmothers wedding dress
07. scan and protect all of my mom's old photos
08. frame and hang photos
09. take lots of walks in the warm weather
10. go swimming
11. find better gluten-free recipes (nico's going gluten-free)
12. change nail polish once a week
13. wear lots of bright colors when going out
14. start making Christmas plans/calendars
15. copy and save important family recipes

red lips for Chinese New Year & other instagrams/pics

my mom's iPhone (like i could afford one, please girl) & my favorite red lipstick for now
the description: intense brownish blue-red, matte formula
buy it friends, buy it so hard

we call baby colette our little tomato since her hair looks like the leaves on a tomato plant
this onesie just made sense for her to sport during the spring/summer time
hoping that planting season will be here soon

today there was a snowglobe blizzard
i hated it
so much for planting season happening tomorrow

wrote out my resolutions and put em on my vanity
Chinese New Year is a great time to re-evaluate whatever i wrote in december

things ive learned so far:
01. its hard to be super kind. i wish i wasn't so darn feisty. working on it.
02. writing more letters is also tough- the only thing i handwrite each month is my mortgage check.
03. spend less, save more- who doesn't enjoy shopping? wait i know! - how did we become friends again? KIDDING! without those friends i would be even more shopaholic than i am now (thank you!) nice things are just nice, but im learning to live without.

switched out the holiday deep red covers and pillows back to the usual dusty and rumpled light blue.
it makes the room feel a bit colder but i just love the way it looks.

ry and i just finished watching Sherlock - a friends recommendation
now i have a crush on benedict cumberbatch
guess ive got a thing for white guys with high cheekbones (ry!)
*swoon*
i just wish his name wasn't so darn long (and serious! but then i do love serious men)
now im forcing getting my sister dear to watch it
she's hooked now
big sis: 1 little sis: 0

year of the snake! this weekend im planning on cleaning out the house and opening the doors and windows (briefly of course- its too cold) and kicking out the "bad luck" in the house.
its a silly thing but im looking forward to it anyway.
and of course wearing red lipstick all weekend :)

have a good one!

14. take pictures of first tomato! it has come.
15. keep pinning
16. run. or workout somehow.

today is the day of
reading the book above
organizing and cleaning
finally unpacking the last couple of boxes
purchasing a wedding gift for ry's bro
planning outfits for the weekend wedding
yes ry and i are probably going to coordinate somehow
taking a stroll around the neighborhood (this weather is just wonderful)
praying and pondering for family in stressful times

washing the random piles of laundry littered about the house
air-drying everything
resisting temptation of the brownies i made
just luscious

letting the stress go because its simply not my job
understanding that everyone is different
smiling for my brother who received a mission call
wishing that i could be with my mom next week for her birthday
hopeful for the months to come
